Roy Lee
Roy Lee enlisted in the Navy at age 14 and served in WWII from the Aleutian Islands (1943-45) to the Philippines. Roy was just 15 years old when he first arrived in the Aleutians. The majority of his time was spent as Net Tender in and out of Dutch Harbor. As a net tender Roy and his crew put submarine and torpedo nets and mines across the mouths of bays to secure the vulnerable harbor and ship moorings at strategic locations throughout the Pacific. Roy celebrated his 18th birthday on November 1, 1945 and was discharged from the Navy on November 4, 1945, just 3 days after he was legally eligible to enter military service. He remained in the Naval Reserve until after the Korean War.
