The National Park Service (NPS) will produce a comprehensive GIS-based layer to address flood risk and scenario planning in the National Capital Region.

Why? Flooding poses significant threats to National Capital Region's historic resources, impacting buildings, structures, and cultural landscapes. The project addresses the need for accurate local-level data, refining FEMA flood maps and NOAA data for reliable digital planning.

What Else? Partnering with Louisiana State and Texas A&M Universities, the project engages youth and prioritizes flood planning for historic buildings and landscapes.
