This project replaced the existing comfort station at the Fort Pickens Group Camping area which was failing and did not meet current accessibility requirements or visitor needs. The new comfort station installed as part of this project four stalls of which all are ADA. Each stall includes a toilet, sink, and indoor shower, as well as, ADA grab bars and signs. Additionally, the building features exterior elements including an ADA frost free drinking fountain and photo controlled exterior lights.

The new comfort station increases visitor services and accessibility in the campground, reduces the park’s carbon footprint, and protects natural resources dependent on dark night skies. This project was funded by park entrance and facility-use fees.
