Period Built: Endicott Period, Completed - 1901
Location: The eastern end of Perdido Key near Pensacola Pass.
Notable Features: The battery had room for four 3-inch rapid-fire guns that fired 15-pound projectiles. As a secondary armament close to Pensacola Pass, the battery protected an underwater mine field and helped larger batteries strike unarmored ships.

Did You Know?

Battery Center is named for 1st Lieutenant John P. Center, 6th US Infantry, who graduated from West Point in 1833 and fought and died in Florida during the Second Seminole War.
