Period Built: World War II, Completed - October 1943
Location: The eastern end of Perdido Key near Pensacola Pass.
Notable Features: Army engineers designed Battery 233 for two 6-inch guns with steel shields. Between the guns, hidden beneath earth and vegetation, is a maze of concrete rooms. Some rooms stored ammunition. Others contained spotting and plotting tools and equipment for soldiers to strike targets.
