Location: The eastern end of Perdido Key near Pensacola Pass.
Notable Features: Army engineers designed Battery 233 for two 6-inch guns with steel shields. Between the guns, hidden beneath earth and vegetation, is a maze of concrete rooms. Some rooms stored ammunition. Others contained spotting and plotting tools and equipment for soldiers to strike targets.

Did You Know?

The US Army never armed Battery 233. When builders completed the structure, Allied forces had delivered major blows to Axis Powers like Germany, Italy, and Japan. The Army no longer needed the battery to defend the nation.
