Auto Tour and Recreation

The extension of the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail provides Americans with many new opportunities to explore.

Many Lewis and Clark sites, museum exhibits, trails, overlooks, memorials, and trail markers will be incorporated into the national historic trail. The expansive auto tour route also provides Americans with access to other national historic and scenic trails. The original 3,700 miles of the trail provides access to nine other trails, while the new 1,200-mile section, from Pittsburgh to Illinois, provides access to three additional trails.
