Activities tend to shift indoors as days get shorter, temperatures drop, and seasons change. So why not bring the parks indoors instead? Timucuan Preserve rangers have embraced being #ParkedAtHome by re-creating park views in a photo weaving project.

Step one: Decide what you want to make. The park website has an extensive photo gallery to give you inspiration.
Step two: Print your chosen image.
Step three: Draw a simplified cartoon based on the image. The easiest way is to trace the most obvious parts of the image using a light box or a sunny window. Use a copy machine to enlarge or shrink your drawing to fit the size you want to make. Our sample used a weaving kit we sell in the park bookstore.
Step four: Write down the colors you will use on the drawing.
Step five: Find yarn to match those colors.
Step six: Warp your loom.
Step seven: Place your drawing under the loom so you have something to reference.
Step eight: Weave.
Step nine: Hem your finished project or tie knots across with the warp threads.
Step ten: Proudly show your artwork by sharing it on social media. Be sure to tag us with #NPSCrafts, #ParkedatHome
