Water Quality Word Scramble

Have you ever thought about owning something monumental? Imagine, if you will, that Lake Superior belongs to you. It is yours! As the owner of this freshwater gem, what are your responsibilities? Do you think about its future? Perhaps you see yourself as steward, caretaker, and protector of this natural wonder?

Water is life. When searching our solar system for evidence of life, scientists look first for signs of water. Freshwater, especially accessible freshwater is exceedingly rare everywhere. Only 1% of Earth’s water is accessible freshwater and Lake Superior contains 10% of that 1%, or 0.1%. While that may not seem like much, Lake Superior covers more of the planet than any other freshwater lake. It containing an estimated 3 quadrillion gallons of water (That's 3 with 15 zeroes behind it!).

Despite its immense size there are factors that can negatively impact the quality of its water. Lake Superior is huge, yet rare; pristine, yet fragile; and it is ours.

Now is your chance. Unscramble these words to help increase your understanding and awareness of factors that affect our water and our lives. By being keepers of the water, we demonstrate respect for ourselves, nature, and future generations.
