Volunteer Story: Rebecca Snider
2,000 Hours Club
Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial’s youth volunteer, Rebecca Snider, recently put in her 2,000th hour of lifetime volunteer service.
Rebecca was the 2019 Hartzog Youth Volunteer Award recipient for National Park Service Regions 3, 4 and 5 (Midwest) for exceptional volunteer service.
Rebecca has literally grown up at the park by volunteering in all park divisions since she was six years old. These past few years, she has stepped up her volunteering efforts and has taken on an active role in park operations including assisting with the park safety program and special events. Rebecca has volunteered most Saturdays throughout the year. In 2020, she volunteered 482 hours. She has a great love of animals and especially enjoys helping take care of the livestock at the Lincoln Living Historical Farm.
Rebecca says that she likes volunteering because she enjoys helping others and it gets her out in nature.
