Veteran Story: Max Farrington
Max Farrington joined the U.S. Army on July 5, 1955. He completed basic training at Ft. Jackson in South Carolina immediately followed by Jump School training at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky. Max served in the 11th Airborne in Oxburg and Munich, Germany through June 25, 1958.
An opportunity to serve as the Battalion photographer led to a 35-year professional career as a photographer in civilian life. Max's career in the National Park Service has provided many opportunities to continue his love of photography where he often shares wildlife, nature, and landscape pictures with his lucky co-workers.
Max is the Park Custodian at George Washington's Birthplace National Monument in Colonial Beach, Virginia.
