Travel Blog: Redwood National Park
Redwood National Park is infamous for its old growth rainforest and landmarks, such as the drive-thru tree, but did you know the park also features raging rivers, prairies, and an extensive scenic coastline? Opportunities to explore are endless, with excursions ranging from a 5-minute walk (or drive) through ancient sky-high trees, full day hikes through multiple waterfalls, and scenic picnics in open prairies where you can observe unique wildflowers, wildlife, and historic architecture.
Coastal Adventures
Covering over 110,000 acres of rainforest and 50 miles of coastline, it is easy to spend a whole day exploring just one small region of this vast park. Enderts Beach is one popular site located on the northern coastline. It is well known for its for its beautiful views, gray whale sightings, and colorful tidepools.
Explore the Forest
Spend a day in the southern region of the park exploring Fern Canyon Loop, made famous from its appearances in major films, such as Jurassic Park and FernGully. This picturesque landscape features meandering streams, quaint footbridges, fern-covered canyons, and many opportunities to observe wild elk that are known to traverse the area.
