Top Ten Tips for A Summer Visit to Eugene O'Neill National Historic Site

1.Remember to Make Your Reservation
The historic home of Eugene O'Neill is located on private property in a gated community and requires a reservation for all guests. All visitors will be shuttled to the park from our downtown Danville pick up spot.

2. Plan for at least a two-hour visit
Your visit can take up to two hours. This time includes being shuttled to the park site and the tour of Tao House. Guests will be free to explore the grounds as well.

3. Dress Comfortably
Wear comfortable shoes and clothing for walking and touring. There are some steps and a little incline.

4. Become a Junior Ranger
Be sure to ask a ranger about our Junior Ranger booklet and activities for kids of all ages.

6. Bring Your Camera and/or binoculars!
The Eugene O'Neill National Historic site has beautiful vistas and nature. The Tao House is also a great place to capture photos how Eugene and his family lived.

7. Bring Bottled Water
Summertime can be warm in Danville, CA. While the walk around the park is not strenuous, it is easy to become dehydrated if you are not making sure you're getting enough water.

8. Wearing Sunscreen is Helpful
While touring Tao House is an indoor activity, you will want to spend some time walking around the grounds of the park. Summer can be sunny and warm.

9. Bringing Your Pet
While dogs with a leash are allowed on park grounds, only service animals are allowed in Tao House and Performance spaces.

10. Check out Some Virtual Performances
The Ghosts of Tao House is an ever-growing series of short films, comprised of monologues from the plays of Eugene O'Neill. These were performed and recorded around the Historic Site.
