Are people causing climate change?
Yes. Carbon dioxide and other gases from cars, power plants, deforestation, and other human sources has been accumulating in the atmosphere. This pollution has exacerbated the greenhouse effect, in which the atmosphere keeps part of the heat of the Earth from escaping into space. The increased greenhouse effect has caused an increase in global temperatures. According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, greenhouse gases from human sources have caused 98% of the observed increase in temperatures in the past two centuries.
