I have lived in southeastern PA all my life but only just recently visited Valley Forge with my mom when I learned that National Parks were struggling with funding. It was interesting to come here and learn more about the people who helped defeat the British in the American Revolution. It's hard to believe how far they trekked in the cold and the snow and with such little food!

The Visitor Center staff at Valley Forge NHP were very friendly and attentive, answering our questions thoroughly. The educational video shown in the public theater was also very well-made. I appreciate how the video highlighted the oft-neglected stories of freed African slaves and the Oneida Native Americans who fought alongside George Washington's troops and the women who helped them get supplies. The people who work at Valley Forge NHP are clearly passionate about preserving history, which is a great thing!
