The National Park Service (NPS) Scientists in Parks Internship program is designed to enhance youth opportunities in conservation and climate change resilience. The project will engage traditionally under-represented youth in conservation, federal land management, and science.

Why? These internships help parks meet natural resource management needs while providing interns with meaningful natural resource management experience that fosters a life-long connection to the NPS. Internship opportunities also improve the career potential for participants and help increase diversity within the natural resources ranks of the NPS.

What Else? This project aligns with broader NPS goals of increasing youth engagement and diversity in natural resource management. The NPS will significantly increase its use of youth corps, science internship participants, underserved youth programs, and more to ensure that at least 20% of the overall Inflation Reduction Act investment for restoration, resilience, and invasive species control will engage youth and related youth programs and services.
