A $100,000 grant from the Empire State Development corporation, and I Love NY, a part of New York State’s Department of Economic Development, made it possible for the Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area to create a new virtual app for all nature and history enthusiasts who want to take a train trip along the Hudson River, but can’t leave their homes due to the COVID-19 safety precautions. Developed in partnership with Amtrak, the National Park Service Trails and Rails Program, and a variety of other partners, Hudson River Valley NHA’s free app allows anyone with access to the App store to take a virtual train ride throughout the scenic Hudson Valley. Virtual train riders can visit any site along the way and even save their favorite places, so they can easily return to them later. Simply download the free Hudson River Train Tour app from the App Store and start your trip today!
The Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area’s train tour highlights the NHA’s themes and history of Freedom and Dignity, Nature and Culture, and being a Corridor of Commerce. The pursuit of justice, equality, and the economic and cultural development in this NHA greatly influenced the rest of the nation as it developed. Today, the NHA preserves this natural history and its resources.
