Release Date: March 5, 2024
Contact: Carl_Administration@nps.gov, 828-693-4178
Flat Rock, NC – A hazard fuel break at the park boundary requires cyclic maintenance to control regrowth of vegetation. A 33-foot wide fuel break was established along the southern park perimeter in 2005. New growth and downed debris are removed or dispersed biennially. The work will be accomplished by brush cutter to cut down regrowth of trees and shrubs. Chainsaws will be used to cut dead and downed materials lying in the fuel break so that debris may be redistributed to the park interior outside the fuel break.
Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site is a unit of the National Park Service. The park is located three miles south of Hendersonville off U.S. 225 on Little River Road, and is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., daily.
