Park After Dark

Each fall, for almost 40 years, Fort Vancouver National Historic Site has hosted an evening living history event. First called the Candlelight Tour, and solely inside the buildings of Fort Vancouver, it was later renamed Campfires and Candlelight as the event expanded outside the walls with a timeline of history from World War II back to the 1840s Oregon Trail and Fort Vancouver Village.

In 2020, we worked with videographer Mark Dodd to produce a series of special videos inspired by this evening event that let you inside the "Park After Dark." In these videos, our wonderful volunteers offer a lighthearted look at the Kitchen, Counting House, Chief Factor's House, and Fur Store. There is also a bonus daytime video of the Fort Vancouver garden! As autumn evenings get darker and colder, we hope you will enjoy this opportunity to spend some time inside the cozy, lantern-lit interiors of Fort Vancouver.
