Environmental and Human Well-Being Featured at USBN Workshop
The USBN has announced the first of a series of virtual workshops titled, Enhancing the Wellbeing of People and the Environment. All biosphere region participants, partner organizations, and interested colleagues are invited to join on Tuesday, November 10, 2020, at 1:00 pm EST for Workshop One: Convening our Community of Practice.
The workshop will kick off with keynote addresses from conservation scientist and Senior Fellow at the United Nations Foundation, Tom Lovejoy, and Sharon Farrell of the California Landscape Stewardship Network and Vice President, Stewardship & Conservation at Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy.
At stake are societal challenges that lend themselves to cooperative, voluntary approaches by public and private partners in biosphere regions, i.e., local communities, protected area managers, nongovernmental organizations, the economic sector and universities.
Discussions will explore how to connect the well-being of people and communities to nature, engagement with indigenous communities, and collaborative responses to climate change.
Virtual workshops to be held in the coming year will focus on training and development for biosphere region representatives.
For more information on the workshops contact Desirée Fiske at desiree.fiske@colostate.edu, or Cliff McCreedy at cliff_mccreedy@nps.gov.
