Discovering the NPS Datastore

The NPS DataStore is a repository of lots of National Park Service information, including published reports, geospatial datasets, and data packages.Some recent information that has been posted pertinent to Great Basin National Park and is available to the public includes:

National Park Service geologic type section inventory: Mojave Desert Inventory & Monitoring Network (2021) looks at the geologic or stratigraphic units of National Park Service areas within the Network.

Great Basin National Park Streams and Lakes Data Package 2009-2023 (2024) includes information on water quality, lake levels, stream cross sections, and more.

Mojave Desert Benthic Macroinvertebrate (BMI) Data Package (2009-2023) (2024) includes results from benthic BMI samples collected at nine perennial springs in GRBA.

Riverscape interpretation in Great Basin National Park: A geomorphic assessment of streams and riparian areas (2025) presents core fluvial geomorphic concepts and develops a reach type classification for riverscapes across GRBA.

Great Basin National Park: Natural resource condition assessment (2016) aims to document current conditions of important park natural resources.

Flora of the North and South Snake Range (2012) has a dichotomous key for plant species in and near the Park.

You can find many more documents at the NPS DataStore Home, which has great search capabilities. If you do a quick search and put for the unit “GRBA”, you will find over 2,000 records going back to 1875!
