This year, the trail produced a wide range of print materials to support interpretation, education, and visitor engagement. Museums and visitor centers received interpretive materials including accessible tactile maps and braille Unigrid brochures, as well as tear-away maps, Seaman and Native Names stickers, and Exploring Lewis and Clark Trail regional tourism brochures, produced in partnership with J. Greg Smith, Inc. Auto tour route wayshowing signs were delivered to various state DOTs in 2025, and new rack cards and site bulletins were distributed to increase visibility and provide area information for our Omaha visitor center.
The trail’s staff collaborated closely with interns and offered guidance on best practices to design, format, and produce interpretive exhibits for the Lewis and Clark Education and Research Center in West Point, Kentucky. This work included developing mobile interior exhibits that highlight local connections to the Lewis and Clark Trail through the stories of Corps of Discovery members John Shields and the Field brothers. A series of exterior walking tour panels to interpret plants of the Lewis and Clark Expedition was also installed throughout the town to extend the visitor experience.
Meet the interns who developed the exhibits!
