Green Muslims ODIG! for Adults: Our Deen is Green! Meaningful Watershed Education Experience (MWEE) for Grownups

Building upon the Our Deen (Faith) is Green! youth outdoor education program, this Green Muslims’ project will take adults into nature. Through a series of field trips and hands-on experiences in the Washington, D.C. area, participants will be introduced to natural sites and environmental organizations working to protect the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Participants will discuss a variety of topics including native and invasive species of plants and animals, stream monitoring, wastewater management, environmental justice, and faith-based approaches to environmental stewardship. The program will conclude with project proposals—such as starting a native plant gardening project—thereby encouraging participants to make commitments to care for the watershed and helping local environmental organizations connect with the Muslim American community.
