The Wonder Wagon: A Mobile Nature Center for Fairfax County

WONDER stands for Wild Outdoor Nature Discovery Everywhere Revealed. Fairfax County Park Foundation’s project will enhance current programming and allow the Wonder Wagon team to acquire a vehicle, equipment, and supplies, to meet Fairfax County community members where they are - community centers, events, unstaffed parks, and title one schools. Utilizing input from the local community on nature programming, the Wonder Wagon will: 1) Connect Fairfax residents to nature and its value by activating an awareness of local nature regardless of access to a traditional nature center; 2) Increase the feelings of connection to nature in the populations where the Wonder Wagon is active; and 3) Raise the profile of nature exploration as an activity with all residents and raise awareness about the benefits of spending time in nature.
