Enlace: Engaging and Empowering Latino Youth through Environmental Experiences and Education

Enlace means “to link” or “to connect.” EcoLatinos, Inc.’s project enlaces Latino youth in Prince George's and Montgomery Counties to their communities, to the greater environmental movement, and to future educational and career opportunities through a year-round, summer and after school program. Summer activities include a boat tour of the Anacostia River, an Edible Plant Educational Walk, and a field trip to the Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary. The after-school program covers topics ranging from the science behind water quality improvement in the Chesapeake Bay to how to start a business. This program will have a "ripple effect" within the larger Latino community, engaging both Latino youth and parents in stewardship and community development.
