The following is a Schedule of Events for the upcoming 150 Anniversary of The Battle of Arkansas Post. The event will be held at Arkansas Post National Memorial and Arkansas Post Museum State Park. Parking will be at designeated areas in the town of Gillett. Free shuttle service is made possible with grants from the Arkansas Civil War Sesquicentennial Commission and the Lower Mississippi Delta Initiative. 11:00 am Special Presentation on the Battle of Arkansas Post by Mark Christ, Community Outreach Director with Arkansas Historic Preservation Program and coordinator of the Arkansas Civil War Sesquicentennial Commission (Arkansas Post National Memorial Visitor Center Theater) Noon Special Presentation on the regional significance of the Battle of Arkansas Post by Terrence Winschel, Retired Park Historian from Vicksburg National Military Park (Arkansas Post National Memorial Visitor Center Theater) Noon Special performance by Northwest Arkansas Old Time String Band Harmony (Arkansas Post Museum State Park) 2:00 pm Offsite Non-NPS or State Park program 4:00 pm Memorial to Soldiers and Sailors who fought at the Battle of Arkansas Post (Arkansas Post National Memorial) 6:30 - 8:30 pm Period Ball featuring Harmony (Big Tent) Spectators are welcome Sunday, January 20, 2013 9:00 am - Noon Camps open to the public:
