Anacostia Park doesn't just have great view of the river, it has public access! You can come out and enjoy boating, sailing, rowing, kayaking or paddleboarding on the Anacostia River.

Pubic Boat Ramp

The boat ramp is located at the north end of Anacostia Drive SE. Vehicle and trailer parking is adjacent to the boat ramp. The boat ramp and parking is free.

Safety

- Wear a lifejacket at all times.
- Research your route and leave an itinerary with a friend or loved one.
- Check the weather before you leave and be prepared for inclimate weather.
- Know the tide and do not get stuck in the mud.
- Bring extra drinking water and food and a cell phone (in a waterproof bag).

Tides

The Anacostia River is a freshwater tidal river. The tide rises and falls around 3 feet twice daily. Be aware of shallow areas and creeks and plan accordingly. Review tide charts for the Anacostia River before your trip.

Rentals

There are no boat rentals at Anacostia Park. However, local agencies offer opportunities for getting on the river.

- You can rent kayaks, canoes and rowboats from April through October just across the DC line in Maryland at Bladensburg Waterfront Park.

- Guded boat tours are offered by the Anacostia Watershed Society and Bladensburg Waterfront Park.
