Trailhead Parking

Parking is available at or near most trailheads, and you can park your car for the duration of your hike (unless otherwise posted).

View a list of trailheads with parking and food locker information.

Remove all food, drinks, toiletries, trash, and other scented items, even if they are contained in a bear canister. (Read more about food storage.)

In Yosemite Valley, parking for wilderness permit holders is available only at the trailhead parking lot just beyond Curry Village. A shuttle bus stop is nearby, and a free shuttle bus can take you to other trailheads around Yosemite Valley.

Overnight parking on the Tioga Road (and associated parking lots) and Glacier Point Road beyond Badger Pass is prohibited beginning October 15 each year until the roads reopen the following spring. No shuttle service is available (except for the Glacier Point Tour, which stops only at Glacier Point). On the Tioga Road, parking is available at Tuolumne Grove or east of Tioga Pass (outside the park), until the road closes.

A variety of shuttle and tour buses provide limited transportation around Yosemite.

Did You Know?
Giant sequoias are a fire adapted species. Their bark is fire resistant and fire helps open the sequoia cone and scatter the tiny seeds. Fire also clears forest debris from the mineral soil and provides a nutrient rich seed bed as well as clearing competing species.
