Yosemite Facelift, September 21-25, 2011

The Yosemite Facelift is sponsored by the Yosemite Climbing Association and is the park's biggest volunteer event of the year. Volunteers come from all over the world to help clean up Yosemite near the end of the busy season, removing tens of thousands of pounds of debris each year. Yosemite Renaissance XXVI

Contemporary fine-art interpretations of the human and natural landscape of Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada are featured in this competitive exhibition sponsored for 26 years by Yosemite Renaissance, a nonprofit organization supporting the arts of Yosemite.

The exhibit was open February 26 through May 1, 2011, 10 am to noon and 1 pm to 4 pm every day. A new exhibit will be in place in winter, 2012.

Did You Know?
In Yosemite Valley, dropping over 594-foot Nevada Fall and then 317-foot Vernal Fall, the Merced River creates what is known as the “Giant Staircase.” Such exemplary stair-step river morphology is characterized by a large variability in river movement and flow, from quiet pools to the dramatic drops of the waterfalls themselves.
