For Teachers

Classroom Enrichment Programs: Designed from Virginia's Standards of Learning (SOLs) requirements, Colonial National Historical Park offers educational programs on the historic site to enhance your students' academic experiences. Student participation is encouraged through use of the inquiry method and hands-on activities. Programs can be reserved on weekdays from October through May. There is a $30.00 interpretive fee for each program. To arrange for a program, call the Interpretive Program Coordinator at (757) 898-2411. To ensure a program for your class, please call at least two months and no more than five months in advance.

Yorktown Educational Programs

 
The Teacher–Ranger–Teacher (TRT) program provides opportunities for teachers to connect to the resources in a national park. Teachers develop lesson plans based on their park experience for use in the classroom and parks.

Did You Know?
Yorktown played a role in not only the American Revolution but also during the Civil War. In 1862 it was the site of the first siege operations of the Civil War. In May 1862 Confederates abandoned Yorktown and Union troops occupied it for the remainder of the war.
