Located in the northern portion of the park, about two hours from the Wrangell-St. Elias Visitor Center Complex in Copper Center. Slana is east of the Tok-Cutoff Hwy at mile 0.5 Nabesna Road. (907) 822-7401
The Slana Ranger Station provides information about the northern side of the park and the Nabesna Road.
Summer
mid-May through mid-September: Open daily 9:00am - 5:00pm.
Off Road Vehicle (ORV) permits are required and are available FREE of charge in-person at the Slana Ranger Station for designated trails off the Nabesna Rd. If you are not able to arrive at the ranger station during business hours in summer, you may apply for permit by email instead (please allow up to two weeks for processing).
Fall/Winter/Spring
Closed October through April. If you need assistance in winter, please call park headquarters at (907) 822-5234.
