Gibson House site

An easy ½ mile walking trail leads to the site of Gibson’s Mill, where remnants of the original trace can still be seen, along with the remains of the Gibson Home foundation. During the battle this marked the most northern camps of the Southern Army. Headquartered here was General John S. Rains’s Eighth Division of the Missouri State Guard. Rains’s Division moved south to join the rest of the army after the fighting started.
