A Nation Honors its Founding Father
The Washington Monument is the most prominent structure in Washington, D.C. and one of the city's early attractions. The 555' 5-1/8" obelisk completed in 1884 honors the nation's founding father George Washington, who led the country to independence and then became its first President. Tickets are required to visit the interior of the Washington Monument; click on "Plan Your Visit" to learn more.
