2010 Wall Interventions

The National Park Service and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund have announced the 2010 Wall Interventions.  These names will be recognized officially during the Annual Memorial Day Observance at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on Monday, May 31, 2010; the six names added to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall are:

  • Lance Corporal John E. Granville, USMC, Panel 56W, Line 34
  • Lance Corporal Clayton K. Hough, Jr., USMC, Panel 8W, Line 3
  • Captain Edward F. Miles, USA, Panel 26W, Line 55
  • Sargeant Michael J. Morehouse, USA, Panel 26W, Line 1
  • Lieutenant Colonel William L. Taylor, USA, Panel 7W, Line 81
  • Corporal Ronald M. Vivona, USMC, Panel 50E, Line 36.

In addition to the above, there were eleven designation changes wherein a diamond, symbolizing confirmed death, was superimposed on the pre-existing cross, which symbolized a person's status as MIA (missing in action).

John Wilkes Booth Escapes

Did You Know?
On the night of Lincoln’s assassination, John Wilkes Booth planned to have other men assassinate Secretary of State William Seward and Vice President Andrew Johnson. Lewis Powell attacked Seward in his home in Washington. Seward survived. The attack on the Vice President did not take place.
