Develop your skills outside the classroom! Applications to be the park's next Education Fellow are open until May 5.

About the Program

Education Fellows at Saint-Gaudens National Historical Park brings valuable first-hand teaching experience to the park education team while advancing key place-based learning initiatives. This program taps the knowledge, interests, and expertise of an experienced place-based teacher to serve in a leadership and capacity-building role to advance place-based education programs. The park and Saint-Gaudens Memorial (SGM) provide a working educator with a flexible schedule and compensation to develop their skills outside the classroom and work in New Hampshire’s only National Park Service unit.

The Education Fellow program will advance several key objectives related to the Saint-Gaudens Memorial and park’s shared educational mission, including:

  • Increase local educators’ knowledge of and participation in place-based education, through workshops, peer-mentoring, and networking.

  • Expose local students, educators, and community members to the park through integrated school curriculum, field trips, service-based projects, volunteerism, and special events including the park’s annual Sculptural Visions festival and summer STEAM camp.

  • Provide input to the park and SGM on educational reform initiatives, best practices, trends, school and community needs, and alignment of academic competencies and standards in park programming.

In addition to other collaborative projects and operational support, the 2024-2025 Education Fellowship will specifically advance these project areas:

  • Preparing for the U.S. Semiquincentennial (America250) by developing relevant field trip curriculum, engaging regional communities, and supporting park-wide initiatives related to America250, memorialization, and commemoration.

  • Developing and administering National Write-Out programming for public audiences, students, and educators.

  • Supporting park-sponsored educator professional development workshops including a two-day women’s history workshop in August 2024.
