Located along the Boise River and nestled against foothills of the Rocky Mountains, this capital city has a lot more to offer than just its amazing natural setting. Boise has several historic districts and numerous nationally recognized buildings including the Idaho State Capitol, Empire office building, and the Egyptian Theatre. A Preserve America grant helped Preservation Idaho capitalize on these resources by supporting Archwalk, a series of architectural walking tours of downtown Boise. Because of the success of Archwalk, a new guide to the city’s architecture is being planned that is expected to result in multiple listings in the National Register of Historic Places.
