The Dog River
Mobile County, Alabama
The Dog River Clearwater Revival project created an eight-mile-long paddling trail through Mobile County, protecting the watershed for people and wildlife. The trail is a major part of the project’s goal to turn the Dog River from muddy to clear and provide a clean, safe place for people to enjoy. The National Park Service Rivers, Trails, and Conservation Assistance program gave vital assistance in planning, coordinating, and publicizing the trail. This effort gave Alabama’s citizens a place for fun and fitness and a new appreciation for Mobile County’s precious watershed.
