Minnesota Headwaters of the Mississippi River to the Gulf of Mexico, New Orleans

Working in close cooperation with the offices of the Mississippi River Trail, the National Park Service’s Rivers, Trails and Conservation Assistance Program is connecting people to the Mississippi River, its places and stories, along 10 states from its headwaters to the Gulf. One outgrowth of this effort has been the Mississippi River, Parks, and Trails Collaborative, an organization committed to publicizing the magnificent diversity of people, places and wildlife along the Mississippi and promoting it as a national treasure. This newly emerging cooperative is made up of local, state and federal refuge, park, and trail managers and other non-profit leaders who are committed to connecting people to the Mississippi River through volunterism and increased visitation to river parks and trails.
