Building on the success of 100 Source-to-Sea events hosted by The Last Green Valley, the Willimantic River Alliance received assistance from the National Park Service to establish a water trail. NPS staff worked with local volunteers and officials to publish a downloadable 14-page Paddle Guide for the Willimantic River. In addition to bringing attention to recreation, safety, and river conservation, this project will also lead to a nomination of The Last Green Valley water trail network, including the Willimantic River Water Trail, for National Recreation Trail designation in 2011.
