Clinton, Michigan
The Mid-West Michigan Trail Authority manages and maintains the 42-mile state-owned rail-trail. NPS RTCA has helped to build partnerships among the three counties and develop strategies for a sustainable trail. One major step toward sustainability came with a $3 million endowment by The Meijer Foundation that will provide ongoing funding for routine management and maintenance of the Clinton-Ionia-Shiawassee Trail. The 42-mile rail corridor, from Ionia to Owosso, will be named in honor of Fred Meijer. The corridor, when it's complete, will be the fifth largest rail trail in the country.
