Alternative Fuel Vehicles
Do you plan to travel to the park in an alternative fuel vehicle? If so, good for you! Your actions help us reduce greenhouse gas emissions and reduce petroleum use. Three electric vehicle charging stations were installed in late August 2014 for public use at the Bear Valley Visitor Center parking lot at Point Reyes National Seashore. The rich, lush environment of Point Reyes heavily depends on the fog. During rainless summers, fog can account for 1/3 of the ecosystem's water input. But recent studies have indicated that there has been about a 30 percent reduction in fog during the last 100 years here in coastal California. More...
