Point Reyes National Seashore Superintendent Don Neubacher stated that today is a Red Flag Fire Alert day within the Seashore due to the potential high fire danger. Superintendent Neubacher explained, "Seashore staff has gained a heightened awareness of the impact of a major uncontrolled wildfire." A Red Flag Fire Alert is defined by the National Weather Service and has a number of variables related to fire weather and predicted weather conditions for the day. Several steps of action will occur within the Seashore boundaries:
