Plan A Field Trip

The trails, parks, routes, refuges, historic sites and communities that make up the Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail network are rich with educational opportunities, and many of the management partner Web sites include educational resources. Other ideas:

• The Teaching with Historic Places Web site, organized by state, provides in-depth resources for sites in the Trail corridor as well as across the Nation.
• The Potomac and other rivers and streams in the Trail corridor offer dynamic environments to interest students in various subjects and disciplines; they also provide training opportunities for teachers to gain the confidence and skills to conduct environmental monitoring projects and to develop lesson plans and ideas for use in classroom settings.The link below takes you to a paper, completed in 2005 by staff of the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay, describing the value of river "sojourns."
