Description

Prairie Day 2021!

Celebrating life on a Missouri prairie during the late 1870s when George Washington Carver was a child, this event includes music, a guest speaker, guided tours, special ranger programs, junior ranger actvities, and food concession. 

Prairie Day activities will include:

  • 10:00 a.m. and noon, Musical performance - Ripplin' Creek
  • 10:15 a.m & 12:15 p.m., Wildflower Walk - Join naturalists and educators Johnny and Karen White on a 45-minute discussion of Missouri's native plants and flowers.
  • 11:00 a.m., Guest author presentation - Agricultural Scientist, Dr. John H. Pickle, Jr. to discuss his book: "One of His Boys – The Letters of Johnnie Pickle and His Mentor, George Washington Carver."

Other Highlights:

  • Guided Tours: 10:00 a.m., noon and 2:00 p.m.
  • Ongoing: Junior Ranger Activities: 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
  • Ongoing Trail Talks: 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

 All activities will be located outside on the front lawn, free of charge.
