Increase in Visitation for May 2007 at Petrified Forest National Park

Petrified Forest, AZ – Acting Park Superintendent Joe Escoto announced that visitation for May had a slight increase of 0.15% from last year with 55,329 visits compared to last year’s 55,245. The year to date total is 186,774 which is down by 3%.

Ranger led programs are a high point for many park visitors and for the rangers who give them. These programs provide a chance for visitors to get their questions answered and to experience the park on a deeper level. The Painted Desert Visitor Center, Rainbow Forest Museum, and the Painted Desert Inn National Historic Landmark have information on the current daily programs.
