Petrified Forest, AZ— Following the lead of local governments, including Navajo and Apache Counties, level II fire restrictions are now in effect due to the extreme fire danger from prolonged hot and dry weather conditions. These restrictions will remain in effect throughout Petrified Forest National Park until further notice.

Only self-contained gas grilles or stoves may be used. Campfires, wood or otherwise, and charcoal grilles may not be used. Smoking may only be done in an enclosed vehicle. Smoking outside is prohibited throughout the park. As always, the use or possession of fireworks or other pyrotechnic devices is prohibited.

For information call (928) 524-6228; or write to the Superintendent, Petrified Forest National Park, P.O. Box 2217, Petrified Forest, AZ 86028; or e-mail the park Superintendent at e-mail us.
