Petrified Forest National Park
2006 Artist In Residence Art Exhibition

Petrified Forest, AZ – To recognize the end of the 2006 Artist in Residence Program, the park will be hosting an Artist in Residence Exhibition Reception at the Painted Desert Inn on Saturday, November 11, 2006 at 2:00 PM. This art exhibition will run from November 5 thru the 19th showcasing artworks created by the fifteen artists who participated in the park’s first Artist-in-Residence program.

The artwork on exhibit will provide each artist’s perspective of the park during their residence. The goal of the exhibition and program is for the artists to provide a positive learning and interpretive experience for park visitors regarding the park as inspiration for artistic endeavors and to increase understanding of the significance of the park.

Did You Know?
Petrified wood was so abundant when the ancestral Puebloan people were living in the area that they used it not only for stone tools but also as building material, such as the "brick" used in Agate House at Petrified Forest National Park.
