PBS Filming Complete
An independent film producer, Greg Frederick Productions, has just finished shooting a film series on the scientific and cultural significance of Oregon Caves National Monument to be aired on the Public Broadcasting Service network.
The film series, which is scheduled for release in April 2011, is the result of a two-year partnership between Southern Oregon Public Television and Oregon Caves National Monument. In addition to the PBS film series, the film will serve the monument’s mobility impaired visitors and local and distance education programs. Parts of the film will also be used in a virtual tour being produced as part of this partnership project.
Did You Know?
Computer bugs, slang for something gone wrong in a program, are actually named for a real insect. In 1947, technicians working for computer scientist Grace Hopper found a moth inside her computer. The trapped moth was making the machine malfunction. Once removed, they reported that the computer was “debugged”. They taped it onto her notes with a little joke that is now part of our everyday language.
