She is known for her palette knife painting in an ala prima style of thick paint. Otwell paints "en plein air" on a portable easel which allows her to explore evoling and changing technique with tubes of paint.
A public reception for Otwell will be held at the Obed Visitor Center on Friday, March 1st, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. (EST). Ms. Otwell will have open studio hours at the Big South Fork NRRA at the Bandy Creek Interpretation and Education Building (near the Visitor Center) on Wednesdays from 4-6 p.m. (EST), and Saturdays and Sundays from 3-5 p.m. (EST).
