This exhibit showcases the extraordinary life, tenacious personality, remarkable leadership, and humanitarian contributions of Clara Barton, founder of the American Red Cross.

With Barton at its helm from 1881 - 1904, the organization assisted disaster survivors in 18 peacetime relief efforts in the U.S. and abroad, as well as the Spanish-American War. She oversaw the establishment of many local American Red Cross chapters.

Visitors can explore Clara Barton's rich professional work and honors, engaging personal life and letters, and take a virtual tour of her Victorian-style Glen Echo, Maryland home and American Red Cross headquarters.
