FREDERICK, Md.— Join Monocacy National Battlefield as we celebrate freedom in Maryland with a walk-through history on Saturday, October 22nd at 1 p.m. This ranger guided walk, approximately 1-mile in length, and 1.5 hours in time, will begin at the Best Farm, tour stop 1, 5106 Urbana Pike. From there we will walk to the area that housed at least 90 enslaved individuals in 1800, then towards Monocacy Junction, where the United States Colored Troops enlisted black men to fight in the Civil War. This ranger led program will focus on the history of those who were enslaved on these historic properties, how they lived, and the ways they sought freedom.
